Glassmorphism

Frosted glass layers and soft light.

Glassmorphism creates depth with translucent surfaces that blur what's behind them. Glass cards over coloured light blobs feel modern and technical.

What is it?

The effect comes from colourful shapes filtering through the glass layer, so the style works with a rich but calm background, not on its own.

The biggest risk is legibility: text on a blurred, shifting background doesn't have the same contrast everywhere.

Defining traits

  • Translucent cards with background blur (backdrop-filter)
  • Thin, light border strokes
  • Soft colour orbs in the background
  • A dark or vivid base colour
  • A limited number of layers

Performance & accessibility

Blur is expensive, especially on low-end phones. Don't stack glass layers, and keep the effect to small areas.
